3 February 2017Grove GMK5100 gets a long awaited Birthday
Purchased new in 2002 for our Christchurch fleet, the Grove 5100 was a significant step for the company, at the time.
Crane technology was advancing rapidly with lightweight, but strong, computer controlled booms allowing the crane to be compact with boom over front road travel.
It was a very popular crane worldwide and a very similar model is still produced new today
Being the first of this modern era of cranes in the South Island, it became very popular with clients, being efficient to mobilise with excellent lifting capacities and a long boom at that time
With further industry leading purchases for our Christchurch Branch Fleet, including the Grove GMK6220/5130/6300/4100 and 5220 etc, the crane has been based at our Invercargill Branch for the past 7/8 years, where high demand continues, to the point where making it available for a coat of company silver, has taken until now.
The crane is now painted and on a project in Wanaka assisting NASA with the launching of high pressure scientific balloon launch (the 3rd time we have been involved with this operation)
The condition of the crane, pre-paint was a credit to our staff. SOURCE: Tim Smith, Managing Director
